4th Oct - 7th Oct Oliva for 3 nights

Oliva Day 1 We thought abot staying in Calp for an extra night as the site was so lovely and we were lucky enough to grab a very nice pitch. However, we decided to move on. First thought was Denia but it was tricky to find a site with a good review.

This was a bit of a turning point as we stopped heading South and turned back planning to vist a few stops we passed by. First on the list was Oliva and after reading loads of site reviews we decided on Camping Pepe. It all looked a bit run down when we arrived but inside it was fine, another great find and again we grabbed a large pitch.

This site was a real find, what was planned for a one night stop over is going to be at least two if not more. Within a minute walk is a massive sandy beach with very few people on it even for a weekend. So we packed out towels and headed onto the sand for the afternoon.

Tomorrow we hope to cycle into town, it's about five miles.

Oliva Day 2 and we take a ride into Oliva Playa for our site. Nice ride but not a great deal going on when we arrived, the place is mainly residential and expensive. There are some very nice golf courses around and a few massive houses that have the beach at the end of their garden. Had a tour around the marina then went on to another posh (and I know) expensive camp site. Had a beer and cycled back as it started to cloud over a bit. Not impressed.

Day 3 It's a bit cloudy in the morning so time to catch up with shopping and motorhome chores. By the afternoon the sun is back out so it's back to the beach and a visit to the bar before heading back for dinner. Last job was to prepare for departure in the morning.

1st Oct - 4th Oct Calp for three nights

Calp Day 1 We arrived late afternoon so not much to do on day one other than pitch up and take a quick look at the sea front.

Day 2 and with MrsT feeling a bit under the weather Mr T went off and had a better look around the area. The front is divided into two halves, one either side of the giant rock. Apparently you can climb up it but not today for me.

Both sides are similar with the South side having a harbor and a place to drop off ferry boat day visitors from other resorts. You can also walk most of the way around the base of the rock but not the whole way. We were a bit undecided about how long to stay but eventually decided on three night.

This seems like a lovely rustic kind of place, we came here following an online recommendation. There is a bar and a tapas bar but no pool. The pitches are great and covered to keep the sun off.

Day 3 Big beach day today after cycle further around the resort. Back to Buster later for dinner and to prepare for a new place tomorrow. Not sure where yet, I'll read a few reviews later.

30th Sep to 1st Oct - Cambrils for a one night stop

Oliva We stopped on a site in Cambrils, it's only a one night and unfortunately if you take out travel time it means we only have from midday onward. Cambrils is nice but not quite up to Lloret standard.

We had a cycle, a sit on the beach and found a bar of course. Like most places this town deserves longer, it has a lot of shops of the main drag that we missed.

The campsite was ok, parking the bus was a bit tight due to low trees with thick branches.

28th to 30th Sep - Lloret de Mar - We made it to Spain

Lloret de Mar We say goodbye to Argeles Plage and the one night stop and set the sat-nav for a scenic non toll route across the Pyrenees and into Spain.

I had planned to stop at Roses but the town was too close to the Pyrenees and was covered by cloud. So on we went further South and booked in at a campsite.

Once setup it was time for a bacon sandwich, get the bikes out and head off down to the beach for a tour and a beer.

Day 2 We made the most of the last full day here with a visit to the main town, a 3D virtual experience at the castle followed by a beer in the castle grounds. We did plan to cycle straight back but got distracted by another beer. The rest of the afternoon was spent at the beach and in the ealy evening it was time to pack at the pitch and prepare to leave in the morning.

Next stop will be Cambrils, it's just a one night stop over so we plan to head off early so we can see as much as possible. Lorret is lovely and we will return for a longer stay in the future.

Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar There is a great modern built castle at one end of the resort that you can explore for a small entrance fee. After your walk around you will get access to a unique virtual reality experience and can finish the tour in a lovely bar area that gives you fantastic views over the resort.

27th to 28th Sep - Argeles Plage just a few miles before Spain

Argeles Plage We left Cap D'Agde this morning and headed for a one night stopover at a camping car park next to the beach at Argeles Plage. This town is just a few miles from the France Spain border.

We stopped part way at a Hyper U supermarket to stock up. This place was massive, too big in fact, it stocked everything.

Had a bit of time on the beach then back to the bus for dinner. Tomorrow we cross into Spain having spent more time in France than planned but none less than it deserved.

20th - 21st Sep - Chateau de Chambord

honfleurThere was no rush to leave Honfleur. It rained a bit overnight, the roads were wet so we had breakfast and a shower, drained the waste and filled up with fresh water all before we set off at around 11am.

The roads were great, all easy driving until the sat-nav wanted to take us up a slip road that was closed. One major detour later we arrived later than planned at Chambord and headed for the chateau aire.

The aire is a basic overnight parking spot right beside the chateau but without any services.

We had a quick walk in the grounds as the sun was shining and decided to take the tour tomorrow.
